About Us

Gondwana Mitra Mandal, Mumbai was established in 1994. A non profit organization envisioned to foster togetherness and cherish the distinctive culture and heritage of the Gond community. Some members of the Gond community from regions like Nagpur, Gondia, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Yavatmal, Amaravati, Nanded moved to Mumbai to make a living for themselves. Decades went by and the feeling of being closer to home became stronger. This is when, visionaries like late Mr. Sukramji Masram, Mr. Damodarji Ilpate Mr. Madhukar Kohe, Mr. Vijay ji Madhavi , Mr. Ramesh Parchake, Mr. Shashikant Nagbhidkar and Mrs chandrakala uaike came together and started “PARICHAY MELAWA” to bring the community closer and create bonds that last through community service and matrimony. Today, the members of the Gond community from Mumbai, Thane and Kalyan may be separated by geography but are one in spirit.
